A traffic incident in West Hollywood early Saturday morning, January 6, 2017, left three people injured, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division, which is responsible for investigating all traffic collisions and possible traffic crimes for the Hollywood, Wilshire and West Los Angeles areas. Paramedics and firefighters rushed to the scene of the two-car collision near the corner of La Cienega Boulevard and Sherwood Drive at 1:42 a.m. Saturday, and transported three people to a nearby hospital. Dispatchers with the county fire department reported two of the injured individuals to be suffering from minor injuries, and the third was in moderate condition after the collision. La Cienega Boulevard was closed briefly following the incident as deputies with the LAPD conducted their investigation. The intersection is a busy three-way junction near the La Cienega Nursery and the Belmont restaurant which sits between Beverly Hills and the popular and trendy Melrose Avenue shopping district.
According to a police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, detectives are investigating the traffic incident as “DUI-related”, but the exact cause of the crash was not immediately known. Detectives provided sources with no other immediate details or information and the incident remains an open investigation.
