On Thursday, if you were traveling down Sunset Blvd you likely ran into an unexpected detour up until lunch time…
Why? See the official news on KTLA, but basically, A car, which held one driver and no passengers, struck a telephone pole at approximately 4:30 AM on Thursday. During an interview, police stated that the driver who struck the pole had died at the scene.
As they arrived, responders discovered that the car was flipped sideways and had its roof smashed through the side of the pole. Traffic cameras revealed that the vehicle lost control while traveling westbound on Sunset Boulevard when it jumped the curb and began traveling along the sidewalk, knocking over a tree and a parking meter before finally striking the pole.
It is currently unknown if alcohol or unsafe speed played a role in the fatal accident, and the name of the victim is yet to be released. After the crash, the California Highway Patrol announced that each lane in both directions on Sunset Boulevard had been closed so that the scene could be cleared and investigated.
